How do I switch between CLI configurations or accounts?
CLI profiles
A CLI profile is a complete, independent installation of an agent CLI: its own login, its own transcripts, its own history, its own MCP configuration.
Why they exist
Two honest reasons:
- Separating work from personal, or client A from client B, without logging in and out.
- Different configurations — a profile whose MCP servers are the ones a given project needs, instead of every server you have ever configured loading into every session.
What a new profile is
Empty. A new profile starts logged out, because it is a separate installation, not a view of the same one. You sign in inside it, once.
How Muster uses them
- The title bar selects the profile for the project.
- A role can pin a profile, so a role always runs under the identity you meant.
- The browser tab partitions its session by project and profile, so the page sees the login that belongs to that profile.
- Anything that reads the CLI’s disk — session indexing, search, the task list — walks all profiles, not just the default. A session opened under one profile is still findable from the app.
What profiles are not
They are not a way to get more usage. See Why profiles don’t raise usage limits — the short version is that the limit belongs to the account behind the profile, and Muster will not help you pretend otherwise.
