How do I group projects and find something I saw an agent do?
Workspaces and search
A workspace is a set of tabs and panes that belongs to a project. Search is how you find something an agent did, across every session Muster has indexed.
Workspaces
Tabs hold sessions, files and the queue. Panes hold sessions side by side. A pane group belongs to the workspace rather than to a project, which is why a group survives switching projects — with its terminals still drawing.
Creating a group while you are in a session brings that session along as its first pane. Closing a pane does not dissolve the group: a group with one pane is still a group, and dissolving it on its own would remove it from the menu without anyone asking.
Search
⌘P searches files and past conversations. The conversations are the part that does not exist anywhere else: the transcripts are on disk as JSONL, and reading them by hand is not searching.
Two things worth knowing:
- Search covers every CLI profile, not just the default one. Anything that reads Claude Code’s disk has to walk all profiles, because each profile is an independent installation.
- A session appears in the list only once the CLI has written its transcript. A brand new terminal works before that happens; it simply is not in the session list yet. Search no longer gives up on it — the session shows up when the CLI finally writes.
The overview tab
Every session in every project, with the CLI profiles at the top: identity, open fronts, and the last limit each reported. It also warns when one file has been touched by more than one session, which is the symptom lanes exist to prevent — and the place you will notice it if a lane is declared too wide.
